The first two days will be spent making the lathe from high quality seasoned dimensioned hard and softwood assembled into kits.
You will be carefully guided through the build-up, stage by stage to produce a durable and efficient pole lathe that will last for many years.
Day 3
On day 3, after your pole lathe has passed its maiden turning test, the emphasis will then be on learning how to use the main tools of green woodworking safely and accurately to produce small turned items.
Day 4 (if selected)
If you elect to stay on for an extra day, we will concentrate on making the components and assembly of an English Rustic Style Shavehorse.
The shavehorse you make will be yours to take home
We'll use specialist good quality hand tools such as carving axes, froes, drawknives and turning gouges and chisels from eminent makers such as Gransfors Bruk, Hans Karlsson and Svante Djarv.
All materials, tools and devices will be provided. You will leave with a fully working pole lathe (and a shavehorse if you book for the four days).
