Established in 1894, Blackfriar has long been celebrated for its exceptional woodcare products, paints, and varnishes. Originating from the esteemed Ostrich Paint and Varnish Works in Bristol, Blackfriar was the brainchild of Ernest Parsons, whose dedication to quality quickly positioned the brand as a household name. 

Over the decades, Blackfriar expanded its reach, especially noted in the 1920s for supplying robust black paints to the automotive industry. Now a part of the Tor Coatings Group since 2004, Blackfriar continues to deliver premium products from its modern facility in County Durham, maintaining its century-old legacy of craftsmanship and superior quality.
