Steel extension rings designed to fit our
Woodsmith Charcoal Ring Kilns, providing a simple and effective way to increase production capacity.
Available in 5ft, 6ft, 7ft, and 8ft diameters, each extension ring sits on top of the base kiln and works with the original lid.
Extension rings increase kiln capacity by approximately 33% per burn, making them a useful addition for anyone looking to scale up production or gives you options if you want to start with a smaller kiln, with the possibility to later expand production. They also offer greater flexibility in use - particularly valuable in a commercial setting where output and efficiency matter.
We’ve used extension rings extensively in our own charcoal production and consider them an essential upgrade for higher-volume work.
With care, the extension ring can be positioned manually by rolling and sliding into place with minimum two people, though assistance or machinery is recommended.

About Woodsmith:
At Woodsmith, we pride ourselves on offering the world's finest tools, books, and devices for woodcraft. But our identity goes beyond retail; we are, quite literally, a family of passionate craftspeople and makers. Our in-house products come directly from Maurice, Woodsmith's founder and a craftsman of 30 years; his daughter Izzy; our skilled team, including coppice workers and bowl turners; or our talented local leatherworker. Each item embodies our commitment to quality and the ongoing tradition of green woodworking.
Occasionally, we collaborate with talented blacksmiths, toolmakers, and fabricators - prioritising local makers whenever possible - to produce specially commissioned products inspired by our own designs.
