The Wetterlings Hunter’s Hatchet is a practical, medium-sized axe designed for use in the woods, around camp, or on hunting trips. Compact enough to carry easily yet capable of tackling a wide range of tasks, it’s ideal for clearing small branches, preparing kindling, building simple shelters, or general camp work.
Forged in Sweden by Wetterlings, the axe head is made from recycled Swedish steel and fitted to a durable hickory handle that provides excellent balance and control in use. Each axe is supplied with a vegetable-tanned leather sheath to protect the edge during transport.
Wetterlings ceased axe production in 2017, so these are new tools from remaining stock. Genuine Wetterlings axes are becoming increasingly difficult to find, making this a rare opportunity to pick up one of these well-regarded Swedish tools. The Wetterlings factory now is owned by the parent company of Gransfors Bruk - and the machines are still in use to make a select range of Gransfors Bruk axes.

About Wetterlings:
Wetterlings Axe Factory was founded in 1880 by Sven Axel Wetterling in Bäckefors, Dalsland. It is the oldest axe factory in Sweden.
In 2007, Wetterlings was acquired by Gabriel Brånby, former owner of Gränsfors Bruks AB. Today, the company is owned by brothers Adam and Daniel Brånby. The factory’s philosophy is to preserve and pass on the knowledge and craftsmanship developed by previous generations. Wetterlings axes are appreciated for their craftsmanship and durability, and the factory continues to be an important part of Swedish industrial history.
