The Tom Thackray Travisher is a hand-made tool, made in very small numbers by a professional chairmaker.

Use to shape recessed work such as chair bottoms. An extremely solid and reassuringly rigid tool.

Originally made by Tom Thackray because it is not easy to find good traditional tools such as these......that work!.

Like a wooden spokeshave, the cutting angle is low, so a chatter free action is easy to achieve. Comfortable in the hand.

290mm (11 1/2") long beech body with 5" cutting iron.

The Tom Thackray Travisher has an easy to remove iron for re-sharpening.
