The
Svante Djarv Carving Axes are a range of hand forged tools designed solely for green woodworking and carving. A selection of differing head weights are offered depending on the intended use of the tool.
As a general rule, lighter weight carving axes lend them selves to smaller scale projects such as spoon carving, or for instances where fine control is required. Alternatively, heavier axes are best suited to the quick removal of a larger quantities of wood, for example during the creation of bowl blanks or other large carving projects.
Please note that desired axe weight is a personal preference, and factors such as the size and strength of the user should be considered. Note, the listed weights are approximate.
Made from high quality tool steel, Svante Djarv Carving Axes arrive with symmetrical bevels, which means that the bevels have the same length. All bevel angles are approx. 27-28 degrees.
Edge Protection: We have recently invested in training and higher-quality materials to bring our leatherwork fully in-house. We now offer handmade, custom-fit full-grain leather sheaths for almost all of our premium tool ranges which, if properly cared for, can last as long as the tool itself. For transparency in pricing and to ensure fairer access to these tools, sheaths are
no longer included with the price of the tool and can be purchased separately. A Woodsmith leather sheath for this tool
can be purchased here.
