Made from hickory because it's a durable, strong and flexible wood with long straight fibres for a long life.

Soaked in hot linseed oil then waxed to make it resistant to dirt and water.

• Hickory handle 
• Seasoned hardwood wedge
• Steel wedge

If you are not familiar with specifying an axe handle, the first number is the handle length, the second number the widest part of the eye-wood and the third umber is the narrowest part of the eye-wood.  So, the smallest 'Smedbergs REPLACEMENT AXE HANDLE - Curved 270mm x 40mm x 15mm' is 270mm long with eye wood that is approx. 40mm x 15mm.  

Remember: when measuring up for a new axe handle always take the lower eye opening as this is normally a little smaller than the top opening.

PLEASE NOTE: it is normal when fitting a new axe handle that careful and cautious wood removal is required to achieve a good safe fit. Wood removal is normally done with a Cabinet Rasp.
