The Morakniv Carving Knife 105 is a real classic among woodworkers worldwide. With a barrel-shaped oiled Scandinavian FSC® certified birch wood handle, a finger guard, and tapered laminated carbon steel blade, it’s a great options for beginners and experienced carvers alike.
The core of the blade is made of high carbon steel surrounded by a softer alloyed steel layer. The knife blades from 2023 are polished and have a logo stamp, which differs from the earlier knives made before, when they weren’t polished. The ones manufactured up until 2023 can sometimes be found to have a knotty or unfinished blade surface. It comes from the rollers in the rolling mill where the laminate steel is fused. The polished surface adds protection from corrosion.
Same blade as fitted to the Mora Carving Knife 106 but the handle on this knife is larger and shaped with a more secure, safer grip in mind. The narrow blade allows access to tight areas and quick tight turns. The long narrow blade is also useful to carve the inside of shrink boxes; if you are just starting out on your carving adventures this is a great one to get going with.
