Hand forged, made from Swedish quality steel in the forge at Hults Bruk, Sweden

The forging tradition Hults Bruk goes as far back as 1697, and the steel head is struck 40-60 times to increase density and durability to the head.

Named after Åby, the nearest village to Hults Bruk, where many of the workers lived in the middle of the 20th century.

Wonderful family business who 'go that extra mile to make you smile': This is a great axe for camp and light forestry work. Also very good for carpentry as it is a bearded axe so allows you to 'choke up' to get a lot of control over the cutting. I have bought cheap axes in the past and learnt my lesson... how dare the cheap axe manufactures even CALL them axes. THIS axe will keep a VERY sharp ( very sharp right out of the box ) edge even after 3 hours chopping a VERY hard beech tree ( I am recovering from man-flu so maybe 2 hours next time ) and the cheap axe I TRIED first wouldn't even TOUCH it. You won't be disappointed either with Woodsmith team OR this wonderful axe.
