The Acorn Straight Carving Gouges are exceptional hand tools crafted by Henry Taylor Tools, renowned tool makers based in Sheffield, UK. These gouges are particularly useful for the bulk of initial wood removal when starting to remove the hollow and down the sides, making them ideal for beginners in kuksa or small bowl carving. Straight gouges can be lightly tapped with small wooden or rawhide mallet.
Each gouge is fitted with a beech handle and comes sharp, though we recommend a final hone before use for optimal performance. These exceptionally well-made British tools are offered at very fair prices, making them a great addition to any carver's toolkit.

The Acorn range specialises in tools for woodcarving, and have an exceptional breadth of gouges in various sweeps and widths. At present, we've chosen to only stock a few of these options - two sweeps in the same width, which we find personally as carvers the most useful. We don't just stock SKU numbers, we individually stock tools based on their merit and our experience. However, if you'd like us to expand the range, please get in touch and we'll be very happy to widen what we have in stock!
