Allbäck Linseed Oil is produced in Ystad, Sweden, using flax grown at Gunnarshögs farm in Skåne. Following traditional 18th-century methods, the oil is cleaned and filtered to remove protein and impurities, creating a high-quality product ideal for wood care. Available both raw and boiled.
Raw Linseed Oil:
Cold-pressed and filtered with no added chemicals or driers. Over time, it naturally polymerises - reacting with oxygen in the air to form a solid, protective film.
- Suitable for woodenware such as spoons, bowls and cups intended for food use (once fully cured).
- Ideal for treating dry, porous wood, and for making linseed-based putty or soap.
- No solvents or additives.
- Please note: allow full curing before food contact (we recommend one month); for the first initial few uses, some mild linseed taste may be present but will disappear after a few washes.
Boiled Linseed Oil:
Traditionally heat treated by boiling, without synthetic drying agents or metallic driers.
- Used in the production and thinning of Allbäck linseed oil paints.
- Whilst no metallic drying agents like many other boiled linseed oils, not recommended for food-contact use.
- Best for furniture, axe and tool handles, and applications requiring faster drying times.
